$200,000 for BoP Health Care Innovators : A big opportunity for social enterprises
The USAID-funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project has announced the launch of the Health Enterprise Fund, a challenge fund designed to address the lack of available capital for health enterprises in sub-Saharan Africa. This support will include technical assistance and grant funding of up to $200,000. In this post, Colm Fay of the SHOPS project explains the fund and how to apply.

BoP Health Care Gets a $10 Million Boost: What Duke’s new SEAD program could mean for you
Few universities are as active in BoP health care and social entrepreneurship as Duke. Now, thanks to a $10 million award from USAID, the university is poised to dramatically expand its impact in both fields. Duke will use the funds to launch the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke (SEAD), a development lab that will identify and support solutions to global health challenges in low- and middle-income countries.

Runa Wins WWF Switzerland Tropical Forest Challenge : The social enterprise has a taste tea and conservation
A global initiative, the WWF Switzerland Tropical Forest Challenge sought the best for-profit solutions around the world addressing the conservation of tropical forest biodiversity. The challenge generated 306 nominations, and 74 applications from Latin America, Africa, South East Asia and beyond.
Runa was selected as the winner in the company category for their inspiring work promoting sustainable tropical forest conservation in the Ecuadorian Amazon through guayusa tea.- Categories
