Fid Thompson is a writer, researcher, communications specialist and visual artist. She has lived on the African continent for a decade, working in human rights, gender, sexuality, public health and community development.

Fid reported for Reuters in Sierra Leone and Voice of America across West Africa, and wrote Human Rights Watch’s first report on Gambia. She speaks French, Swahili and Krio and has a Masters in Fine Arts from University of Iowa’s Writers Workshop.
