But we did not limit ourselves to highlighting problems; rather, we opted to couple each barrier to a set of proven solutions that leading companies in this space have adopted. The result is an issue brief titled Scaling up Inclusive Business – Solutions to overcome internal barriers.

The European BoP Learning Labs and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development are to teaming up to offer an e-learning course this autumn. The course will target technical and middle management professionals who aim to improve their understanding and skills on approaches to developing, implementing, and scaling inclusive business models.

2012Guest Post: @ Rio+20 True Engagement: Discussions on Bringing the BoP into Product Development, Marketing
During the Business Day, my organization, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), organized a session focused on “Eradicating poverty through inclusive business solutions”. In a nutshell, the session in Rio highlighted inclusive business models from different sectors and countries as examples of sustainable, market-based solutions in support of poverty eradication and social inclusion in the developing world. It encouraged companies to embrace inclusive business activities by identifying key success factors and opportunities.

2012Guest Post: Sounding Off On Scale – At Rio+20, Big Energy Companies Talk Barriers to Access for All
Business Action for Sustainable Development (BASD 2012), a temporary coalition of 13 international business organizations, hosted more than 800 leaders of government, business, United Nations, NGOs, and other organizations at the BASD 2012 Business Day on June 19 in Rio de Janeiro. The event was held under the theme “Achieving Scale”, and formed the culmination of a year-long process to ensure the business input to the Rio conference was heard.
