Business Fights Poverty Global Summit 2023

The UN Secretary-General’s annual report on progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) delivers a stark warning, revealing that many of the SDGs are significantly off track, with only 12% of assessed targets on course for 2030. As we approach the critical mid-way point, the report urges world leaders to adopt a “Rescue Plan for People and Planet” at the SDG Summit in September, focusing on three breakthroughs: enhancing governance and institutions, prioritising policies with multiplier effects, and boosting SDG financing. With the world’s poorest and most vulnerable bearing the brunt of insufficient progress, it’s vital that we also reflect on the role business plays in supporting system-level change and accelerating sustainable development.

Join us for the Annual Global Summit on 21 and 22 June, hosted in Oxford, London, Nairobi and Online, where we’ll explore the critical role of business in achieving SDGs. Amidst unprecedented challenges such as conflict, climate change and the lasting impacts of COVID, there has never been a more important time for business to step up and contribute to sustainable development. With the SDGs as a guiding framework, our two-day event will connect you with global peers and experts, offering invaluable insights and practical advice on driving growth, investment, and responsible business models. This marks the launch of a programme of activities that we lead up to our event in September alongside the SDG Summit.

During this unique opportunity, you’ll hear from an array of expert speakers, sharing their experience and latest thinking on business action for sustainable development. At last year’s summit, 98% of participants surveyed said they learnt something valuable for their work, and 99% would recommend it to colleagues. Don’t miss your chance to discover the latest trends and lessons, and learn how to better articulate the evidence-driven business case for sustainability.

Sign up now for our an event carefully tailored for practitioners who are passionate about making a real difference in the world of sustainable development.

Halfway and Hopeful: Digital Inclusion and the 2030 Development Goals

Halfway to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the UNDP’s 2022 Annual Report frames the global climate as “hard to hope.” For people experiencing poverty, gender discrimination, and disability, widening gaps threaten their ability to make real progress. Digital inclusion strategies have the opportunity to unlock the potential of 2.7 billion people affected by the digital divide and make real change for these populations. By pursuing digital equity, the world has the opportunity to provide access, power, and systemic change for and with the people that could most benefit. On 21 June 2023, join the Aspen Institute and HP’s Digital Equity Accelerator for a conversation exploring: Why digitalization is a necessary public good and can accelerate progress for key populations such as women and girls, migrants, and youth What progress has been made – and what must be done – to increase the momentum of digital inclusion around the world How targeted, intersectional approaches can accelerate progress on multiple goals simultaneously.
