Mobilising Pension and Sovereign Wealth Funds for Africa’s Sustainable Growth
Recent geopolitical events have seen a huge reduction in development aid to Africa. The continent is home to over US$1.3 trillion in pension and sovereign wealth fund (SWF) assets under management, yet only a fraction of this capital is allocated to infrastructure, climate resilience, and social impact investments. This is against a $200b annual SDG financing gap. As Africa looks to chart a sustainable and resilient growth path, unlocking even a modest portion of these domestic institutional resources to fund the SDG financing gap could be transformative.
Ahead of the 2025 AVPA Conference (Nov 3–5, Nairobi, Kenya), this webinar will convene influential voices to explore:
– How domestic institutional investors are approaching infrastructure, sustainable finance, and impact investing .
– Regulatory and market reforms needed to mobilise long-term domestic capital.
– Opportunities for collaboration between pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and impact investing platforms.
– This dialogue will serve as a curtain-raiser, setting the stage for deeper in-person discussions at the 2025 AVPA Conference, November 3-5 in Nairobi.
