Operations Catalyst

  • Work closely with the core management team and advisors to design and implement an innovative pilot, playing a key role in the full cycle of the pilot from research to execution
  • Develop and employ creative, unconventional ethnographic tools; inspirations include FinalMile’s Behavior Architecture, Portfolios of the Poor’s financial diaries, gaming, among others
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to develop a deep understanding of the needs, aspirations, and consumer and mobile technology behaviors of the communities we aim to serve
  • Manage day to day field activities during pilot implementation, coordinating field teams and partners, and responding to community concerns/needs
  • Analyze learning and draw meaningful insights that will inform development of the service and business model
  • Post-pilot, play key role in scaling operations, managing partnerships, overseeing field teams and communities
  • Contribute to and support activities related to the overall growth of the company from key strategy decisions to administrative tasks

Compensation & Logistics

This is a full-time opportunity. Compensation will be in line with an early stage social enterprise; negotiable based on qualifications and experience. The position is based in Mumbai, India, and the candidate must live in Mumbai or be willing to relocate.

The Individual

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills, experience and attributes:


  • Passion for our idea and for being a part of a company that is committed to making a positive difference in the world
  • Min. undergraduate degree with at least of 3 years work experience in economic development/social impact or related space
  • Significant experience working directly with bottom of the pyramid communities, successfully managing field projects, teams and partners, and coordinating between multiple stakeholders effectively
  • Compassionate, attuned to subtle nuances of community dynamics and highly sensitive to community needs
  • Entrepreneurial with a notable track record of self-initiated and –driven projects, as part of which you have built successful teams
  • Analytical, quant-lover with demonstrated ability to perform data and risk analysis
  • Other key attributes include: intellectually curious, resourceful, detail-oriented, collaborative, cross-culturally sensitive and humble
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with good proficiency in Hindi
  • Legally able to live and work in India

Strongly preferred

  • Experience working with a another start-up and/or socially-oriented organization on a pilot project
  • International education and/or work experience, in addition to, experience living and/or working in India
  • Well rounded with active intellectual, artistic or athletic pursuits
  • Good proficiency in Marathi
