Microfinance grown rapidly as a tool to help entrepreneurs from under-represented and disadvantaged group’s access start-up financing. Confronting Orthodoxies: Evolving Mindsets

The 2023 Global Philanthropy Forum will be held October 17-19 at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco.

The Global Philanthropy Forum brings together leaders who are tackling global challenges head on, local activists who have created new solutions that others can learn from, innovators in new fields, leading public intellectuals from around the globe alongside cultural luminaries.

For generations, philanthropy has championed a vision of a world where opportunity is accessible to all. At the same time, philanthropy has been mired in beliefs and ecosystems that perpetuate the status quo.

To meet the challenges of the present and realize the promise of the future, philanthropy will need to:

• embrace new ways of working
• establish new networks and new ways of learning across borders to breakdown silos
• take risks on new models
• shift power back to the most impacted individuals and communities

Over two and a half days, we’ll bring together innovators, philanthropic leaders, activists, donors of color, technologists and intellectuals to build a robust discussion about how to tackle problems that are truly global in nature, like climate change or pandemics. We’ll explore different regional approaches (and lessons learned) to shared problems like gender inequality or Indigenous empowerment. We’ll look at new technologies, political and economic developments that are shaping our world and framing our opportunities. We’ll also bring local activists to the forefront, helping bring to light ways to ensure that philanthropic resources can be directly used to support local communities and create sustainable impact that addresses both local and global challenges.

Beyond talking, we’ll encourage action – and this year, will offer new sessions intended to build practical skills, make new networks and give concrete ideas, so that participants can walk away with a roadmap for action. For the first time ever, we’ll also offer the opportunity for participants to spotlight their own grantees, collaborations or campaigns, to encourage others to join them. Finally, we’ll offer a third day dedicated solely to creating peer connections and discovering on-the-ground inspiration happening in San Francisco, a city that has become emblematic of both technological advance, and its accompanying disruptions.

What you can expect at Global Summit

#LSIW23 is composed of a series of standalone events covering a wide range of topics such as Climate Finance, ESG, Impact Investing, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”).

All events are free to attend and open mostly to participants of the financial industry. However, online registration is mandatory for all attendees.

LSIW23 is a “Green Event” and as such, we have taken eco-friendly commitments and measures:

Accessibility by public transport:

We strongly recommend utilizing public transportation to reach the event venue as it is conveniently accessible via this mode of travel. Bus lines 8, 13 and 24 are driving directly to  the venue, bus stop Belair, Val Ste Croix. From there it is a 7 minutes walk to the event venue.

You can equally take the tram, drive to Stäreplatz/Etoile and take the bus line 8.

If you wish to come by bike, sufficient bicycle parking is available at the event site.

Food & Drinks:

We are going to provide a variety of dietary options, including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Additionally, we offer a selection of locally sourced food and beverages with a focus on organic and fair trade products.

Material & waste management:

We prioritize the use of environmentally friendly and reusable materials whenever possible during the event. Additionally, waste sorting is certainly implemented.

We kindly request that individuals who are no longer able to attend notify LuxFLAG at least three days in advance to minimize food waste.

Investing in Community-Led Solutions for Social Change

On 17-19 October 2023, the 2023 Accelerating Digital Equity Global Summit – organized by the Digital Equity Accelerator, a collaboration between HP Inc and the Aspen Institute – will convene global leaders across philanthropy, technology, government, international development, and social impact to collaborate on ways to close the digital divide in the interest of social and economic justice globally.

All parts of the 2023 Accelerating Digital Equity Global Summit will take place on a fully virtual (online) interactive platform that enables networking and substantive engagement among attendees. All the events are free and open to the public, however advance registration is required.

Digital Equity Pitch Fest and Social Innovation Showcase

Digital Equity Pitch Fest and Social Innovation Showcase (“Pitch Fest and Showcase”) is a global event featuring pitches from 10 nonprofit organizations advancing innovative digital equity solutions in Malaysia, Mexico and South Africa. The featured NGOs are at the forefront of solving some of the world’s most pressing health, employment and educational challenges of our time for marginalized and underrepresented communities.

To mark the culmination of the 2023 Digital Equity Accelerator program, the Pitch Fest and Showcase provides an opportunity to further amplify the innovative work of the 10 Digital Equity Accelerator organizations on a global stage, with hopes to inspire continued global conversations and action to advance digital inclusion efforts.

In the lead up to, and during, the Pitch Fest and Showcase, judges, registered Summit attendees, and the general public will have the opportunity to vote on solutions that resonate with them, awarding an additional $25,000.00 USD to participating organizations to further their digital equity work. Award categories are: Judge’s Choice Award, Social Innovation Award, Best in Pitch Award, People’s Choice Awards (3), and Audience Choice Awards (3). Africa, Latin America, and Asia Regional Summits

18-19 October 2023

Three Regional Summits are separate events – one each for Africa, Latin America, and Asia – elevating conversations around digital equity in each region. The Regional Summits feature local leaders at the forefront of social innovation, digital inclusion, and social impact in each region. The Regional Summits will feature innovative panels, fireside chats, interactive subject-specific Roundtables, a virtual happy hour and other networking opportunities.
